The Town of Meeker is still under COVID-19 pandemic orders. There has been no more reported Corona virus positive testing.
For our residents, please continue our 6 feet social distancing, washing hands often and using hand and home sanitizers.
The numbers have taken a huge swing upwards & I hear a mask order may be in order. We will continue to watch our e-mails from Gov. Stitt & our Emergency Management Coordinator from Chandler. I know we will be watching the news on television for any mask order.
The Meeker Lake Project has received some bids for the Lake Water Supply Line to be taken apart for camera inspection. The contractor chosen will be required to put the pipe back together after camera inspection.
Growth & Development received a very nice donation for another planter full of flowers and plants. A little hint to where to look for it is South of the four flashing LED Stop signs & the cemetery on the West side of Hwy. 18.
Playground sets are being manufactured now. It will weeks build time, & then take them approx. 2 – 3 they will ship playground sets, borders and mulch to Meeker. OG&E Engineers are now doing a study for new LED security lighting for Glencrest Park. We are experiencing exciting times here in Meeker!
We Thank everyone for their local support with purchasing all that they can from our local retailers and eateries.
The border & elbows were delivered to Glencrest Park for the volleyball court. The sand has already been delivered.
Mrs. Walton & Mrs. Williams have struck again beautifying our Homestead Park. Go look at all the work they put in - grass removal & planting of the new Yucca plants. The original 645 bricks have been cleaned that surround the flagpole.
We will get a new flag & light for the flagpole. I am sure we can find a way to get the pole painted. Once again, the majority of all these projects are made possible with local donations & free labor. So, jump on this bandwagon & let us keep making our Town look better. Thanks again to all that have participated in the past to get these parks built & put in place so we can clean, paint & spruce them up better than their former glory. A lot of these people are still around & I Thank you for your vision for our Town.
Remember the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a huge fireworks display held at Meeker Lake, July 3rd at dark. There will be many food trucks, vendors, churches, organizations, kids’ bouncy houses, face painting, turtle races, music, and karaoke, starting at 7:00 PM. The Fire Department will be giving out free hot dogs, so get them while they last. Kids get your police badge and stickers, while they last. Kids rides will be available and much, much more fun. A shuttle bus & golf carts will provide transportation from parking at the Lake, to bring you closer to the event. They will take you the Fireworks display is back to your vehicle after over.
Enjoy your day & weekend celebrating the Anniversary of National Independence & keep safety on your mind.
