1. Update on Asphalt Overlay on Highway 18
A. ODOT has just layed their third 2” asphalt overlay this week. Under each overlay there is a spray or bitumen that is a binder from one overlay to another. It also acts as a sealer. The Pneumatic roller & steel wheel rollers are really putting a smooth finish for us to drive on.
B. Much more work is to be done.
2. Update on Chamber of Commerce
A. Josh Sims, President of the Chamber of Commerce, has confirmed the make up date for the Fireworks Display to be held August 21st. Events start at 7PM with Turtle Races, Kiddie Rides, Music, Singing, Vendors, Food Trucks, Free Ice Cream, Hot Dogs & Water and will be sponsored by local businesses & the Fire Department. Come join all the fun & action at the Meeker Lake. Meeker Police will conduct traffic control again this year. They did such a great job last year. We really appreciate everybody that is involved in our yearly activities.
3. Update on Library
A. Please attend the Bunko party that is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. This group does so many great things for all of our residents & library. Call the Library 405-279-1139 for details. Play Bunko & win great prizes.
4. Update on COVID-Delta
A. We have reports daily about these numbers going up every day. It is also coming out now that some previous reports have been wrong. So, hang on, the Truth always comes out eventually. Meantime let’s keep to what we know. Continue to wash hands often, maintain a 6’ social distancing from one another, cover your mouth if you cough, wear a mask if you want to. The masks are not mandatory.
5. Update on Annexation
A. COVID has struck again. Our attorney, Jim Hodgens, has come down with the COVID. So therefore, the hearing scheduled for August 23rd had to be cancelled.
B. The Town Trustees will discuss the next time a hearing may be held at the regular Trustee meeting held on August 16th at 6:15 p.m.
6. Update on Open Trustee Seat
A. The Town of Meeker is looking for a new Trustee to fill a current vacant seat. Call Town Administrator, Dickie Walton (405) 279- 3320 for details.
