Chandler Council approves plat

The Chandler City Council approved the final plat for Phase 1 of Chandler Meadows, subject to the City’s engineer’s approving the streets once they’re completed at their regular monthly meeting on April 8.

A statutory audit of former Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty’s administration shows nearly 250 fixed asset items that couldn’t be located, almost 50 that were not properly marked and others that were located but not listed as fixed assets.

Chandler announces valedictorians, salutatorians

Chandler High School has announced its valedictorians and salutatorians for the Class of 2025. The valedictorians are Tatum Crouch, James Fine, Samuel Gardner, Cali Hilgenfeld, Halli Murray, Ian Radcliffe and Joel Telford. The salutatorians are Kaylee Choate, Gage Crews and Jaylee Ventris.

Buildings coming down

The Chandler City Council voted Tuesday to demolish the buildings located at 1214 and 1216 Manvel Ave.It did not set a timeframe, but estimated it could cost between $120,000 and $200,000.The Council determined that the buildings - in the state they are currently in - are a hazard to public safety.

13 fire chiefs write governor

The fire chiefs of Lincoln County have signed and sent a letter to Gov. Kevin Stitt, voicing their opposition to the removal of Oklahoma Forestry Director Mark Goeller and urging the governor to reconsider the decision and provide clear reasons why he is on this path.

Farmers' markets opening

Spring has arrived in Lincoln County, bringing with it rain, but most importantly, it marks the opening of local farmers’ markets. There are a handful in the area, including markets in Chandler, Wellston, McLoud and Meeker.

Lions of the month announced

Shakoda Wright and Shelby Knight were named the Lions of the Month for March by the Chandler Lions Club.Shakoda Wright is the daughter of Takeilo Wright and Cassondra Taylor. She has a younger sister, Iridessa, and a younger brother, Jeramiah.Wright has won many awards.

Area bands end season on high note

While the school year hasn’t quite ended, local high school bands have ended their competition seasons on high notes. The bands from Chandler, North Rock Creek, Stroud and Prague all competed in the OSSAA State competition last week.
