Murder charges in Stroud shooting

A Harrah man, being held in jail for the last two weeks in the alleged fatal shooting of a Stroud resident, now faces a first degree murder charge.

County COVID cases keep climbing

The number of deaths in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped by five over the past week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports. All five of those have been in Pottawatomie County, the OSDH said.

Felony charges in DUI arrest

A Chickasha man faces a felony DUI charge following his arrest by a state trooper in Lincoln County earlier this month. Shawn Allen Lowry, 34, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court with driving while under the influence of alcohol. Court records show he was arrested Feb.

Who’s ready for a game of miniature golf? Town Talk continues to receive daily donations for this project. It has been fun working on it because of the interest and excitement it has generated.

Legislative forum schedule

The next scheduled legislative breakfast will be at 326 E. Evans in Seminole, Okla. The meeting will be 8-9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 26. Legislative members will attend the breakfasts to discuss and answer questions pertaining to current legislation. Interested citizens are encouraged to attend.

It was a lot of degrees below zero as I walked to the edge of the pond last week with an ax over my shoulder. At that moment, it may have been only two degrees below zero, but it was hard to tell the difference between that and 40 below.

Burr! Baby it was cold last week! So cold that an elbow joint in our fire suppression system in the attic froze and burst flooding the north end of the hall. But, we are a lucky and blessed bunch here at Prairie Pointe.

As I was sitting and listening the other evening at what has always been called the Richards FFA Awards Banquet, several thoughts came to mind. For 75 years Richards Drug Stores sponsored this annual event. This banquet honors the top FFA student from each chapter throughout Pottawatomie County.
