Bad news on the quail scene

A couple of weeks ago, my good friend Steve Buoy and I journeyed out to western Oklahoma and enjoyed a fall turkey hunt. We each bagged a gobbler as did one of Steve’s cousins, Denton, who happened to be out there and hunted with us.

Thank you to everyone who purchased yard signs for Veteran’s Day to thank our veterans for their service. I loved driving around town and seeing the signs placed in so many yards. It was a nice tribute to our veterans.

Happenings at Prairie Pointe

Rae Bland’s devotional last Sunday was “The Suffering Servant” from Isiah 53. Jesus came to pay the penalty for all our sins. He accomplished His purpose on the cross. We enjoyed singing some gospel songs.

Finally some relaxation

This weekend was supposed to be big. It was the two year anniversary of my biological father passing away and I wanted to celebrate his life with some of my closest friends at his favorite place, our family farm in Heavener, Oklahoma.

A few days back the wife & I were in Dodge City, Kansas. When we went to a restaurant down the street for breakfast we met Charlie Meads (Special Deputy US Marshal). He was decked out in western attire, spurs & all. I asked him if he rode his horse into town & he said, not this morning.

The first inkling that the weekend would be unusual was at the Chandler-Millwood football game Friday. A lady who was working one of the sticks on the chain gang was having trouble getting an arm into the sleeve of her orange vest, so I held it up for her.
