Sheriff’s office responds to death in Sparks

A body was found at a residence near Sparks on April 15, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.LCSO reported on Wednesday that they got a call around 7:18 a.m. from a man who said that his brother was dead and his mother wouldn’t wake up.

Donny Longest only thought he was retired.For the last nine and a half years, he’s enjoyed what could be called semi-retirement, working with the Oklahoma Bandmaster’s Association. Before that, he spent 33 years working with band programs at schools across the state.

Stroud FCCLA brings home awards

Members of the Stroud High School FCCLAchapter recently attended the Oklahoma FCCLA State Convention, held April 2, 2026, in Tulsa at the Arvest Convention Center.

Kollins Corea won third place in the Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry Oklahoma Poem Contest. Her poem was about the Rose Rock, the topic for 8th grade students. There were 643 entries from kindergarten to the adult category. Kollins attended the Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry Celebration in Locust Grove on April 11, 2026, where she read her poem and accepted her prize. Not pictured is the winner of second place in this category, Brycen Austin.
