Area basketball teams had a good week in the playoff as Chandler, McLoud, North Rock, Meeker, Stroud and Dale all brought home district championship hardware.Wellston’s boys and girls both dropped out of the winners’ brackets, but continue this week in the Class A area tournament.

Stroud’s girls won the indoor track state championship Saturday at the University of Oklahoma.The Lady Tigers competed in Division 3, which includes schools in Class A, 2A and 3A.

Burglary charges

A man has been charged with burglary in the second degree for allegedly entering a building in Chandler with the intent to steal.The charges were filed on Feb. 11 against Levi Ellis of Prague, 46, by District Attorney Adam Panter.

Beta Sigma Phi Valentine queen

Stroud’s Psi Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International women’s sorority, is proud to announce long-time member, Kim Johnson, as its 2026 Valentine Queen.A member since 2007, Johnson resides in Cushing and is a registered nurse.

Two more men were charged with five counts for an alleged burglary that took place on or around Nov. 22, 2025 at a marijuana grow.Taliek Adams, 36, and Nicholas Henderson, 35, were charged on Feb.
