Davenport: Valedictorians, Salutatorian

Officials at Davenport High School have announced the Valedictorians and Salutatorian for the 2021 graduating class.

Three students will be honored as Valedictorian for achieving a 4.0 grade point average. They are Breanna Cothran, A.J. Jenkins and Emylee Keith. Brooklyn Lane is the Class of 2021 Salutatorian and will also be recognized during the commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 20.

Breanna Cothran

Breanna Cothran is the daughter of Bryan Cothran and Mitzi Jones. She has attended Davenport Schools since fifth grade and served as senior class vice president.

Cothran earned class awards for Algebra I; Humanities; English I, II and III; Physical Science; Art I; Biology; Spanish I and II; and United States History. She was named Academic All-State 2021 through the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.

Cothran was involved in Health Occupations Students of America and took first place in the 2020 State Nutrition Competition. She also participated in Quiz Bowl.

Other honors and awards include Oklahoma Girls’ Basketball Coaches Association Academic All State, Basketball Conference All-Star and 2018 Track State Champion.

To help out the community, she took part in canned food drives, tutoring and providing dance lessons for younger children.

Currently employed as a crewmember at McDonald’s, Cothran plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond with a major in nutrition to become a registered dietitian.

A.J. Jenkins

A.J. Jenkins, the son of Will and Loraine Jenkins, has attended Davenport Schools for six years and took concurrent classes through Central Technology Center in Drumright.

He consistently earns a spot on the DHS Superintendent’s Honor Roll and the CTC Director’s Honor Roll. He was on the Student Council and the DHS Academic Team.

Jenkins played football and baseball and wrestled for the Bulldogs. He was named Eight-Man All Star in football and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He serves the community by running audio and video equipment at Davenport’s The Connection Assembly of God.

A.J. has a summer lawn care business and following graduation, plans to complete another year at CTC in graphic design before starting on a career path to become a fully appointed missionary with the Assemblies of God.

Emylee Keith

Emylee Keith is the daughter of John and Michelle Keith. She has attended Davenport Schools since preschool.

She played basketball and earned Academic All State and All Conference. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Keith also participated in Pep Club and Cheer receiving the All American Cheer Award.

To give back to the community, she was active in the youth group at First Baptist Church and volunteered in the Head Start program.

Keith works at Doubletake Designs in Chandler. Her future plans are to earn an associates degree at Seminole State College in Seminole, Okla., working toward a registered nurse license. Her goal is to become a neonatal nurse.

Brooklyn Lane

Salutatorian Brooklyn Lane is the daughter of Amber and Brian Hauk and Heath and Mandi Lane. She has attended Davenport Schools for 10 years.

She was the senior class secretary and was selected to serve on the Banc-First Student Board of Directors. Her academic efforts kept her listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

In addition to school activities, Brooklyn volunteered as a class aid for the Head Start program and initiated and led fundraisers and community service projects at Central Technology Center in Drumright. She shared her athletic skills as an assistant coach for Davenport Little League and Cheer.

She worked at the gate for high school sporting events and plans to attend Seminole State College in Seminole, Okla., after high school. Brooklyn will study to earn a registered nurse license to work in labor and delivery in a hospital setting.
