The Lincoln County News won the first-place award for news content and a variety of photography awards in the Oklahoma Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest.
The awards were for work published in 2020 and were presented Saturday night at the OPA convention at the Sheraton hotel in Oklahoma City.
The press association holds the contest each year to recognize work printed by its 170 member newspapers throughout the state. The contest was judged by members of the Iowa Press Association.
“An enjoyable read,” wrote one of the judges about the Lincoln County News. “A nice mix of well-written articles.
“I like the large photos and bold, concise headlines on the front page.”
Editor Brian Blansett won the first-place award in feature photography for the fourth consecutive year and he and Kindra Blansett won first, second and third in news photography.
Kindra Blansett also won second place in advertising design and Rick Hester won second in sports photography.
