Melissa Teague, 40, of Oklahoma City, made an initial appearance in Lincoin County Court on Sept. 24 for three charges, with a pre-preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 22, according to court documents.
Teague was charged with one felony charge of trafficking in illegal drugs, one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled and dangerous substance, and one misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed on Sept. 21 by the Lincoln County District Attorney, the filing said.
The filing also reported that Teague has a previous felony conviction for larceny from the house in Lincoln County from July 2015 and a felony conviction for driving under the influence in Oklahoma County in August 2018.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Sept. 14 at around 11:30 a.m., Dep. Matthew Brown with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office heard a radio call regarding a reported reckless driver near SH 62 and 3340 Road in Meeker. The vehicle was described as a black passenger vehicle and included the tag number.
Dep. Brown stated that he responded to the area and found a vehicle matching the description parked in a driveway to an open pasture. About this time, Dep. Alf Hancock also arrived at the scene. Brown made contact with the driver, identified as Teague, and asked for her driver’s license. Teague reportedly informed him that she did not have a valid license and that her driving privileges had been revoked.
According to the affidavit, Brown went to his patrol car to request a records check while Hancock watched Teague and the vehicle. He said that he saw the driver making suspicious movements and approached. He removed Teague from the driver’s seat after watching what appeared to be an attempt to conceal or dispose of something.
Hancock alleged that he observed Teague holding a piece of foil containing a rock substance. It was removed from her possession, and a probable cause search of the car was conducted.
The affidavit said that during the search, the deputies found approximately two grams of a rocky substance that later field-tested positive for fentanyl, approximately 13.5 grams of a leafy green substance believed to be marijuana, two smoking pipes containing a residue, approximately 0.4 grams of a white crystal substance, one torch lighter, four cut straws, pills later identified as HIV medication, several pieces of foil containing residue and rolling papers.
Teague was advised of her Miranda rights and interviewed by investigators. Afterwards, she was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where she was booked.
