Five houses destroyed, 41 damaged
A storm system that brought hurricane-force winds, tornadoes, heavy rains and some hail across the state Sunday night significantly damaged areas of Pottawatomie County and some damage in Lincoln County occurred as well.
District 1 Pottawatomie County Commissioner Melissa Dennis said 46 homes were heavily damaged and at least five of those destroyed in the northeastern part of her district.
“The Snyder addition between Wolverine Road and Moccasin Trail west of Bryan was hit pretty hard,” Dennis said late Monday morning. “Boomer and Sooner Roads had homes that were heavily damaged and destroyed,” she indicated.
She stated there no are no injuries to anyone she is aware of at this time.
Dennis said that Monday afternoon drones were being used to try and determine any further damage.
The ONG facility on SH 18 north of Garrett’s Lake Road was also significantly damaged, Dennis said.
Lincoln County District 1 Commissioner Will Fine said the only damage in his district apparently occurred southeast of Prague at the southeast edge of town.
Fine explained the storm knocked down power lines on 1060 Road just west of 3580 Road. “We closed that road until crews from both Canadian Valley Electric and OG&E could get power restored in that area.”
He said there was lots of wind east of Sparks but not apparent damage.
