Meeker schools had a farming heritage day last week with displays and exhibits on old-time hay baling, rope making, churning butter and more. Meeker Elementary brought students to the displays, where they were able to ask questions, meet Cheryl the Jersey cow and pet farm animals. Virginia Pritchard organized the event. Top, Shawn Singleton, who is a history teacher at North Rock Creek, explains the intricacies of baling hay. Left, Jacob Vincent lets the elementary school students churn butter and, right, Brad Wynn demonstrates a corn sheller.
