A Lincoln County jury has found a Wellston man guilty of six crimes against minors and recommended he spend 150 years in state prison.
Jason Wayne Womack, 41, was originally charged in September of 2021 in Lincoln County District Court with six counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 which were amended on Oct. 23 this year.
Two other charges of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 were filed on March 23 of this year.
The jury spent just under three hours in deliberations before returning its verdict. Of the six original counts he was charged with which were amended he was convicted on four of those six and also the two that were filed in March of this year.
In all, he was convicted of violating three young girls, the oldest of whom was nine years old.
District Judge John Canavan, who presided over the trial, ordered a pre-sentence investigation and scheduled Womack’s sentencing for Jan. 2, 2024.
Judge Canavan ordered that Womack be remanded to the custody of the Sheriff.
Assistant District Attorneys Kelly Trimble and Rachel Thompson prosecuted the case and Womack’s defense attorneys were Shelley Levisay and William Pierce.
“We are so thankful that justice was served for the victims in this case and that a perpetual child molester is behind bars.” Trimble said.
Womack was convicted of Count 1 of the amended information filed by the District Attorney’s Office of committing lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 between Dec. 1, 2020 and Aug. 18, 2021 at a residence in Wellston. The victim, a girl, was nine years old at the time.
He was convicted of Count 2 of the amended information of committing lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 between Dec. 1, 2020 and Aug. 18, 2021 at a residence in Wellston. The victim was the same nine year-old he was convicted of perpetrating the crime on in Count 1.
Womack was convicted of Count 4 of the amended information of lewd or indecent acts to a child during the same time period by requiring the nine-year-old to touch his privates.
In Count 6 of the amended information he was convicted of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 in the same time period as the others. The victim in Count 6 was a seven-year-old girl.
Womack was convicted of both Counts 1 and 2 of the charges filed on March 23, 2023.
Both counts were lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 and were committed between Oct. 22, 2019 and Oct. 22, 2021 in Lincoln County. The victim in both counts was a girl between the ages of five and seven at the time.
