The Stroud School Board voted to extend the contract of Superintendent Joe Van Tuyl to June 30, 2028, and included a 5 percent salary increase each year, in their regular meeting on Jan. 13. The motion passed 3-to-2.
Vice-President Kathy Moore, Eric Bradley and President Bryan Dervin supported the motion, while J.P. Morris and Holly Thompson voted against it.
The Board also approved the resignation of Middle School Librarian Lori Niccum and approved Van Tuyl to negotiate a contract with a qualified candidate for the position. The superintendent was additionally directed to receive applications from qualified candidates for certified positions for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years.
Other motions included approving an agreement with Brooks Grease Service, Inc. for grease trap cleaning at Parkview Elementary and Stroud High School, Brenda Gooch as the representative for all Federal Programs and Grants for the 2025-26 school year, and a maintenance agreement with TK Elevator.
They also approved Board Policis on EHBDBA - Parent Participation, Student Residency, Student Residency Dispute Procedures and Student Transfers. The Student Transfer policy included language that allows preferential treatment for siblings, regardless of capacity.
E-rate contracts with COTC Connections for internet and WAN connections were approved for the 2025-26 school year, as were those with Peak Up Time to replace network switches.
The board also approved creating a policy to make strategic planning, capital planning and investment with key performance indicators an annual requirement of the Board every May/June.
