This week we have our annual Salute to Veterans, which includes photos and information about veterans with ties to our area. Please look for it on Pages 1D through 6D. Included are many relatives and family members, like Chandler resident Harvey Bowen, right, who served in the Army from 1954 to 1960 and his dad, Trig Bowen, far right, who was a petty officer in the Navy from 1940 to 1945.
This year we added something different - notes to veterans from senior members of the football, pom and cheer teams from Chandler and Stroud high schools. They are well-written, sincere and sometimes poignant. One of our favorites was from Stefaun Mackey, left, a senior on the Chandler football team. We’ll include it here, but you can find it and all the others on Pages 6A and 6C.
