Carney students on the go

A group of Carney High School students enjoy a trip to the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur, Oklahoma. It was one of the many trips that the school had throughout the fall semester that included school visits to OSU, OBU, ORU and other universities. For a short update on what CHS was up to in Fall 2025, see Page 2A. Photo/ Cedric Sunray Carney High School has had a very busy Fall 2025.

Students have been busy with multiple college tours to Rose State College, University of Science & Arts, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma Baptist University, University of Oklahoma, Oral Roberts University, and Southwestern Christian University.

Beyond this, visits to the Mabee-Gerrer Art Museum, Citizen Potawatomi Cultural Center, Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center, Chickasaw Cultural Center, Oklahoma Museum of Art, KidSpace Park, Factory Obscura, and Scissortail Park have enabled students to travel around the State of Oklahoma to a variety of venues. And let’s not forget food stops at places such as Hideaway Pizza and Buffalo Wild Wings along the way. The on-campus “Hide & Seek With the Cops” night was another highly attended great success as well.

The new art classes at Carney High School have also put their work on display in many unique ways by upcycling and designing their own fashion line and putting on a fashion show, redesigning footwear, creating original collages, designing and running a haunted house for the school at Halloween, placing paint to canvas to develop original pieces, imagining new jewelry and accessories, delving into paper mâché projects, and even putting together a 20 foot tall three dimensional Santa Claus out of recycling materials.

The upcoming spring looks even more jampacked with a multitude of activities and “out of classroom” learning opportunities. Go Bulldogs!
