Championship week

Dale and Stroud brought home some state hardware last week as Stroud sophomore Kileigh Mixon, above, won the Class 2A state championship in the high jump and the Dale Lady Pirates, upper right, won their fifth straight state championship in slow pitch softball. Dale run-ruled all three teams it played during the state tournament and beat arch-rivals Latta and Silo in the semifinals and championship. In addition to her gold medal, Mixon was part of the Stroud girls track team, right, that came from behind to bring home the Class 2A state runnerup plaque. Stroud’s 4x400 relay team of KayLyn Baker, Brynlee Wages, Macey Morris and Madison Ham charged from the middle of the pack to finish second in the final event, lifting the Lady Tigers to No. 2 in the team point totals.
