The Chandler School Board voted unanimously to hire Grant Moore as superintendent for the 202627 school year at a special meeting on Tuesday night.
All members were present except for president Joseph Irby. The Board entered executive session for about five minutes before returning to open session and taking the vote.
Moore, who graduated fromChandlerHighSchool in 1991, is moving from Broken Arrow, where he was the executive director of transportation. He has 27 years in education, with nine as a coach and teacher. He has also worked as a principal, director of facilities, executive director of facilities and then finally executive director of transportation.
“It feels good. It feels a lot like home,” Moore said. “This has been my dream to be superintendent of a smaller town.”
Working in the Chandler school system is a bit of a legacy for Moore. His father, Carl, is a former high school prinicpal, assistant superintendent and superintendent of Chandler. He left in 1998 or 1999. His mother, Nan, taught computers at the high school. Carl also grew up in Chandler.
Moore even met his wife at Chandler, joking that he fell in love with her walking from the high school to gym.
Moore said it was interesting coming back and seeing the changes to the high school.
Moore is replacing Scott Baade, who has spent 39 years in education. He has been the superintendent at Chandler since 2022.
