The Lincoln County Commissioners discussed the possibility of calling a special election on the dissolution of the E911 Trust Authority Board at their regular meeting on May 19, but ultimately took no action.
“They just lost their executive director again. They can’t afford to keep doing what they’re doing,” said District 3 Commissioner Lee Doolen, who sits on the Board as a non-voting member.
He said there would be a Trust Authority Board meeting later that same day, where they planned to go into executive session to discuss the executive director. While the Board couldn’t put it to a vote that day, he planned to ask them to dissolve so that the county wouldn’t have to pay for the election.
“The time has come to dissolvethatBoardbecause we’re going to be right back into the place where we’re spending tens of thousands of dollars to bail them out,” Doolen said.
Should it come to a special election, Doolen said the funds that were collected for 911 would come to the County, though they would have to work through the state to get them. He would include a 12-month transition period. The County already has the 911 employees, but they would use the transition time to apply for grants to get new equipment, new CAD and to fix issues at the center.
A citizen at the meeting asked about any investigation into the discrepancies found in the audit released in February, and Doolen said that the Attorney General’s office has the information, but has not called a multi-county grand jury to investigate yet. It was mentioned that should the AG’s Office not launch an investigation, the Lincoln County District Attorney planned to.
The Commissioners voted to approve allowing Five Tool Management to apply for a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant for the Chandler Regional Airport Authority, while discussing WSB’s proposal to apply for the same grant program. They also approved Wilson, Dotson & Associates to prepare the FiscalYear 2026-27 Budget for Lincoln County, the sheriff’s Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with Stroud Police, the Canadian County Juvenile Detention Center, and a grant resolution and application for the Sheriff’s Office.
The Commissioners additionally approved closeout documents for the District 3 Solid Waste Program and a donation resolution for Emergency Management for supplies.
They took no action on a vehicle insurance claim from the sheriff’s office, deciding to look into a cheaper way to fix the damage, and a contract between the Sheriff’s Office and Redemption Medical, planning to do more due diligence. They also didn’t take action on an item regarding qualified employees for the Insure Oklahoma plan or declaring a surplus for District 1.
Discussion on data centers was on the agenda, with Regina Riley presenting new information she received from Geronimo Power, saying a facility could be going in north of Stroud.
