Court appearance set in manslaughter

A $50,000 bench warrant issued for the arrest of a Shawnee man charged with second degree manslaughter accused of causing the death of a woman has been return and filed and his initial appearance has been scheduled.

Raymond G Treat, 65, was formally charged July 25, 2025 in Lincoln County District Court with second degree manslaughter.

Treat’s initial appearance has been set for 9 a.m. Sep. 11,2025.

In Count 1, Treat is accused of second degree manslaughter, a felony, on July 26, 2024 by causing the death of Holly Hamilton through negligence by the lack of usual ordinary care and caution in the performance of an act usually and ordinarily exercised by a person under similar circumstances by driving at speed close to 100 miles per hour, departing the roadway and crashing into a concrete barrier resulting in the death of Hamilton.

Or in the Alternative Count 2, negligent homicide, a misdemeanor by driving a motor vehicle in reckless disregard for the safety by going nearly 100 miles per hour, departing the roadway and crashing into a concrete barrier and causing Hamilton’s death on July 26, 2024.

State Trooper Prestone Davis reported the fatal collison occurred around 9:45 p.m. on July 26, 2024 on SH 18 about a quarter of a mile south of SH 66 in Lincoln County.

He said a 2019 Ram 1500 departed the roadway to the right and struck a railroad bridge before coming to rest on top of a concrete barrier wall. Hamilton was a passenger in the front seat and died on scene from her injuries, the trooper stated.
