Dale Board of Education meeting

Dale Board of Education members this week approved the hiring of several new personnel and accepted the resignation of another.

Following about a 30-minute executive session, board members returned to open meeting and voted to hire Angela Coker as middle school teacher and Darian Gates as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

They also approved hiring Dallas Reed and Savannah Smith as support staff in a capacity to be determined by the administration.

Board members accepted the resignation of middle school teacher Adrienne Wootten.

School Supt. Will Jones during his report advised the board the district received its Redbud funding in the amount of $138,000.

He informed board members athletics will be in the required dead period for two weeks and during that time road and parking lot repairs are going to be made.

He told the board he has switched companies and, “We will get a new bus by December. We’ll be able to pay for it with federal money, our Esser II funds.”

Jones noted that he’s been appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt as the Compact Commissioner for the Oklahoma State Council for Educational Opportunity for Military Children.

He replaces Darrell Floyd who resigned.

No Senate confirmation is required.

In other business, the board approved Larry Capps as custodian of both the Activity Fund and Child Nutrition Fund.

They approved Tonya Landreth as the cocustodian of the Child Nutrition Fund and Erick Muncy as the cocustodian of the Activity Fund.
