East Side ground-breaking

Chandler Public Schools broke ground on a new media and music center at East Side Elementary and a new track fieldhouse at the high school/junior high complex on Thursday, according to Renaissance Architecture.

Superintendent Scott Baade, school board members, school administrators, teachers and community members attended the groundbreaking to celebrate the milestone.

The media and music center is planned to be around 4,307 square feet and located next to East Side. Lori Packwood, director of business development at Renaissance Architecture, said it will have a music/choir room, library, reading rooms, restrooms, offices, storage and secure entries with decorative lights.

“The design keeps the music and media areas separate for sound. Inside, there will be LVT flooring, carpet tiles and modern LED lighting,” Packwood added.

The track field house will be approximately 2,633 square feet on the high school and junior high campus. The building will have locker rooms for boys and girls, concessions, restrooms and coaches’ offices. Packwood said there will also be features like sealed concrete floors, decorative tiles and LED lighting.

Renaissance Architecture is the architectural firm for the project, while Joe D. Hall is the construction manager.
