Pre-preliminary hearings are scheduled for a McLoud area man who faces three felonies in connection with a triple stabbing that took place in early July and his girlfriend who also is charged with a felony.

Joshua Lynn Barnett, 34, was formally charged Aug. 3 in Lincoln Count District with three counts of assault and battery with deadly weapon.

Court records show a $50,000 bench warrant was issued for Barnett on July 5 and returned and filed on July 27 when he appeared before Special Judge Emily Mueller. He made his initial appearance before her on Aug. 3. The judge denied the state’s motion to increase the bond at that time and set a further initial appearance for Aug. 17 with the bond to remain the same.

His pre-preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sep. 21.

Also formally charged in Lincoln County District Court Aug. 2 with accessory to assault and battery with a deadly weapon is Kristina Renea Flores, 31.

She appeared before Special Judge Emily Mueller July 21 and she set bond for Flores at $100,000. She made her initial appearance on Aug. 3. At that time, Judge Mueller ordered her bond to remain the same and set the matter also for Aug. 17.

Her hearing is scheduled at the same time as Barnett’s.

In Count 1, Barnett is accused on July 2 of this year of assaulting Douglas Barnett with a knife, stabbing him in the chest.

Count 2 accuses him of stabbing Brandi Barnett in the stomach.

And Count 3 charges him with stabbing Brandon Barnett in the arm.

Flores is accused on about July 2 this year of removing items from the scene of a crime and fleeing with Joshua Barnett after he stabbed multiple people.

In an affidavit of probable cause, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Special Agent George Belding states that on July 2 around 9:50 p.m. the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a triple stabbing at 333061 Appaloosa Court in McLoud.

The deputy made contact with Haley Holland and Jamie Flores, the agent notes, and the Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI Investigative Services to assist in the investigation of the stabbing.

Belding reported he interviewed Holland who told him that Joshua Barnett stabbed Douglas Barnett, Brandi Barnett and Brandon Barnett during an altercation.

Holland reportedly informed Belding that Joshua Barnett became angry after Leah Barnett declined to give him some money.

Holland further informed the OSBI agent that after arguing with Leah, Douglas, Brandi and Brandon, Joshua brandished a knife and threatened everyone.

Joshua reportedly chased down Douglas and stabbed him in the chest. Brandon and Jamie Flores were trying to restrain Joshua and remove the knife from his hand and Brandi attempted to calm down Joshua.

He then stabbed Brandi in the stomach and Brandon was also stabbed in the arm during the altercation, Belding says in the affidavit.

The agent said Leah, Brandon and Brandi took Douglas to a nearby hospital as he was bleeding a lot and feared he might die.

Belding states that after the altercation, witnesses observed Kristina Flores, wife or girlfriend of Joshua, picking up items off the ground prior to getting into a Mitsubishi Gallant and fleeing the scene with Joshua.

According to the affidavit, on July 3, OSBI Special Agent Kevin Woodward interviewed Brandi and Brandon Barnett at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee.

They related a similar account of the altercation and Brandon advised Woodward he was unaware that Joshua had a knife until he felt a cut on his arm.

In the affidavit it’s pointed out that Kristina had been abetting Joshua until his arrest on July 13 in Dallas, Texas. Kristina was reportedly driving the Mitsubishi Gallant when Joshua was arrested and taken into custody.
