Lions of the Month announced

Journey Sanchez, Adrianna Rivera and Wyatt Mayer have been named Lions of the Month for November by the Chandler Lions Club.

Journey Sanchez is the daughter of Brandon Sanchez and Harmonee Tuyo. She is currently ranked first in her class with a 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) and has taken four years of advanced English.

She has been on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for a year and been a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society for three years.

Sanchez was junior class president, head of the prom committee and an organizer for Fish Club from 2023 to 2025.

As a member of the CHS pom, Sanchez helped the team win first in hip-hop and jazz at state competition in 2022 and 2023.

She has also won three Outstanding Art Awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and an Outstanding Physical Science Award in 2023. She won first place in Junior Art at the Oklahoma State Fair in 2025, and also won Best in Show for Junior Art.

Sanchez’s activities and organizations include six years as a member of Catalyst Youth Group, two years on the pom team, one year on the academic team, eight years in Gifted and Talented and one year on the prom committee. She has been involved with the community through helping with VBS at First Baptist Church Chandler for three years and volunteering at a food pantry in 2024 and 2025.

Sanchez’s employment includes painting murals for the school and City of Chandler, as well as window painting and babysitting. After graduation, Sanchez plans to attend Oklahoma Baptist University and major in Fine Arts. She then plans to live out her dreams of being an artist.

Adrianna Rivera is attending both Chandler High School and Gordon Cooper Technology Center, where she is studying Business Education and Technology.

Rivera has received Level One and Two Series Certifications for BPA and an Outstanding Student Award for Trigonometry.

She’s also received a Good Citizen Citation, Outstanding Performance in Education award and Outstanding GPA award, and is a part of the National Recognition Program. As part of Music Makers, she has received an Outstanding Performance award and Outstanding Performer at the Heartland Music Festival.

She helped the choir achieve a sweepstakes award as well as received an Excellent rating for Mixed Choir, Treble Choir and Ensemble.

She is a member of God’s House of Prayer, Music Makers and Business Professionals of America (BPA). As part of her community involvement, Rivera has helped with the food pantry at God’s House of Prayer, set up events for CIC, volunteered at the God and People’s Food Pantry and helped with Unity in the Community.

She currently works at Taco Bell.

Wyatt Mayer is the son of Wesley M. and Tara G. Mayer. He is currently ranked 42nd in his class and has a 3.36 GPA. He has taken two years of advanced English. He has also attended votech for two years.

Mayer has been involved in FFA for two years and Gifted and Talented for four years.

His community involvement includes Girl Power, helping at a food pantry, creating cards for senior citizens and veterans, and Meals on Wheels.

Mayer has worked for Jackson Electric and a filer for Chandler Tax Service After graduation from Chandler High School and votech, he plans to to attend college to continue his education in the electrical trade and eventually pursue a career in that field.
