Man pleads not guilty to four felonies

APrague man facing four felonies for alleged crimes with children under 16 following an investigation by a District Attorney Investigator and Prague police has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Lou Earl Nelson, 43, was charged Oct. 25, 2023 in Lincoln County District Court with two counts of lewd acts with a child under 16, possession of child pornography and using access to computer to violate Oklahoma statutes.

He had waived his preliminary hearing. During his arraignment before District Judge John Canavan, Nelson entered a not guilty plea and the judge received the plea. Judge Canavan set his case for the felony disposition docket at 9 a.m. on May 7.

Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk earlier had set bond for Nelson at $200,000.

In Count 1, Nelson is charged with lewd acts with a child under 16. He is accused of committing the crime between Nov. 1, 2022 and Sep. 12, 2023 with a child who was eight years old at the time in Prague.

Count 2 charged Nelson with lewd acts with a different child under 16 between May 19, 2023 and Sep. 12, 2023 who was six years old at the time in Prague.

Count 3 accused him of possession of child pornography on Sep. 14, 2023 by possessing images of children of their private parts and viewing them on his cell phone in Prague.

In count 4, Nelson is charged with using access to a computer to violate Oklahoma statutes between Nov. 1, 2022 and Sep. 14, 2023 by using his cell phone to store or display child pornography in view of two children.

Assistant District Attorney Lori McConnell filed supplemental information in the case showing that on March 9, 2006 in the District Court of Yolo County, state of California, Nelson was convicted of the felony offense of importing or distributing obscene material or child pornography.
