The Meeker Board of Education recently approved the Estimates of Needs and financial statement for 2022-2023, hired a teacher, an Aide and also an adjunct teacher.
Board members also accepted the resignation of an Aide as well.
School Supt. Jeff Pruitt presented to the board Total Revenue Estimates of $6,651,466.87. He explained the district, as of July 1, 2022, had a carryover balance of $2,708,181,71 bringing total appropriations for 20222023 to $9,359,648.58.
The board, without going into executive session, accepted the resignation of Elementary School Aide Barbara Coble. Board members hired Danett Pierson as an Elementary School Teacher and Alana Owen as an Elementary School Aide. Debbie Flowers was also hired as an adjunct Elementary School Teacher.
In their reports, High School Principal Brad Buxton advised board members, “We’re on full go with lots of activities.” High School enrollment totals 212.
Elementary Principal Candice Gatz informed the board enrollment stands at 346. “The Elementary Cross Country program is doing a great job, we are thankful to be included and able to participate. We have 10 to 12 runners,” she noted.
Ginger Pritchard, Education Center and Alternative Education Principal, told the board, “Overall we have 69 students which is a net increase of 11 in K-12 taking advantage of the virtual and blended opportunities.
“We have also had an increase in the use of our Caduceus curriculum which is an advanced Anatomy and Physiology online course which will count toward the student’s distinguished graduate requirement.”
In other business, the board members: Voted to allow the FFA to attend the National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
Approved operation of the secondary library in an individual activity account. Approved miscellaneous library materials as surplus.
Agreed to a contract with Advances in Motion PLLC. Stephanie White, physical therapist for the 2022-2023 school year.
Approved several policy updates. Approved the operation of booster clubs in individual activity accounts for the 2022-2023 school year. They include band boosters, baseball boosters, basketball boosters, cheer boosters, Cross Country/Track boosters, Elementary PTO, football boosters and softball boosters.
Voted to sanction a Parent Ag Boosters Club Group for the 2022-2023 school year.
Approved 2022-2023 Activity Funds including Fundraisers/ Expenditures for the period Sep. 13, 2022 to Sep. 30, 2023.
Approved the Cross Country team spending a night in Arkansas for a meet.
