Meeker board approves budget

Meeker’s Town Board of Trustees have voted to approve the proposed General Fund and Public Works Authority budgets for 2023-2024.

Their actions came during a recent special meeting.

Town Clerk and Treasurer Mary Conner said the Trustees voted 3-1 in favor of approving the budgets. She said Mayor Donna Weber and Trustees Aaron Head and Mike Melton all voted in favor of the two budgets.

Trustee Lanny Thompson voted against them, she said, and Vice Mayor Mike Orman was unable to attend the special meeting.

The 2023-2024 General Fund budget totals $1,027,352. That includes $127,923.36 carry over cash and ARPA funds of $158,515,64.

Sales tax revenue is projected to be $467,514. Personnel Expense is predicted to run $650,727. The 2022-2023 General Fund budget totaled $966,791, Conner explained.

The Public Works Authority budget for 20232024 totals $1,035,456, Conner said. That compares with the 2022-2023 PWA budget of $887,400.

Largest single revenue item is projected to be water and garbage income of $718,440. Carryover cash is $291,617.

The largest expense item is unreserved cash of $299,513 and the next highest is for personnel, projected to total $247,032.

Conner noted both budgets include funds for performance-based evaluation raises on a scale of three to five percent.
