Meeker rehires administrators

Meeker Board of Education members during a meeting this week rehired administrators and the athletic director.

They also listened to a presentation by Bledsoe, Hewitt and Gullekson on the 2020-2021 audit.

Following an executive session, the board voted to again employ Brad Buxton, high school principal, Rodney Treat, middle school principal, Candice Gatz, elementary school principal, Virginia Pritchard, Education Center/Alternative Education principal and Brad Sea born, athletic director.

After listening to the audit presentation, the board voted to approve a 2021-2022 audit contract with the same auditing firm.

In other action, the board agreed to surplus two 2000 Bluebird buses.

Board members also approved an update to the Student Transfer policy.

During their reports, Buxton said basketball is winding down and spring sports are beginning. Meeker will host a Regional basketball tournament Feb. 24-26, he advised the board.

He said enrollment totals about 214, 198 of that is at site 705 with 16 at site 701.

Treat reported enrollment of 146.

Middle School archers competed in the state archery tournament on Wednesday and Junior High powerlifters competed Wednesday at Chickasha.

Gatz reported elementary enrollment stands at 340 with six attending virtually.

Pritchard said there are 90 students K-12 taking advantage of the virtual and blended learning opportunities.
