The Meeker Town Board of Trustees has approved the final budget for 2021- 2022 that includes a three percent pay increase for all employees.
The Trustees, meeting also as the Public Works Authority, approved the PWA budget for 2021-2022 and it also includes a three percent pay hike for all PWA employees.
The General Fund budget totals $741,625.
General Fund employees include Dickie Walton, Mary Conner, Trent Norton, Scott Wilson, Jimmie Lindsey, Delanya Wolford, Tim Helm, Wade South, Raymond Mackin, James McNeill, Tommy Hughes, Dustin Stevens and Kyle Crow.
Town Administrator Dickie Walton explained the pay increases begin with the next payroll cycle of June 26 through July 2, 2021 to be dated July 6.
The PWA budget totals $519,455. PWA employees include Jody Vaughn, Diana Rodgers, Joseph Jones, and Chad Rowan.
Their increases begin at the same time as those in the General Fund.
The Trustees decided to take no action to amend an ordinance regulating fire works that would have allowed fireworks to be set off inside the city limits.
On another matter, former Board of Trustee member Eulberg addressed the Town Board about dilapidated property at 301 Culver Street in Meeker.
He told the board, “It’s been an eyesore for years I think. It’s dangerous and it’s way past the need to take action. You got to do something,” he added, as he also pointed to other rental property in general that he said “is bad.”
Eulberg also noted, “but something has got to be done.”
Among consent items approved were accepting Donna Weber’s resignation from the part time position at the Meeker Public Library; approving former Town Board of Trustee Richard Coleman as chairman of the Planning Commission; and approving a remodel permit for Kurt and Sandi Hemingway to remodel the structure located at 701 and 703 W. Main in Meeker with the contingency that all contractors, including plumbing and electric, obtain a permit through the Town Clerk’s Office.
As the PWA, Trustees also approved charge off accounts totaling $1,375.48.
