A dog breeder from Stroud facing over 400 felony counts of animal cruelty is ready for trial.
Jerry Hine appeared before District Judge Sarah Bridge on Jan. 20, with Shelly Levisay representing him on behalf of Kimberly Miller. Levisay said Mr. Hine was still ready for trial.
He will appear on the jury trial call docket on Jan. 27, before the next jury trial session begins on Feb. 2.
Hine was charged with 408 counts of felony animal cruelty in July. He was arrested on July 15, 2025, after more than 400 Maltese dogs and puppies were seized from his business, Add Love Pets, LLC, located in Stroud.
His bond was set at $25,000 by Judge Emily Muller on July 16, 2025.
Many of the dogs were in a poor condition with severely matted hair that prevented them from defecating, according to the amended probable cause affidavit.
They also appeared to have little to no human interaction as they all cowered when being picked up. The Humane Society of Tulsa took the dogs into their custody. They’ve been able to find new homes for many of them.
Hine waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Sept. 11, 2025, and pleaded not guilty at his formal arraignment on Sept. 16.
