Trials set for Chandler man

Jury trials have been scheduled on several felonies in two separate cases for a Chandler man already an inmate in the Lincoln County Jail who most recently has been accused of attempting to prevent witnesses from testifying against him.

Court records show that Cody Wayne Barnes, 34, was charged Feb. 21 this year in Lincoln County District Court with second degree burglary.

On July 21, appearing before Judge Mueller, he waived his preliminary hearing and she set his arraignment for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 15.

Barnes was also charged Feb. 27 this year in Lincoln County District Court with two counts of second degree burglary and a third count of possession of credit card belonging to another.

During his arraignments Aug. 15 before District Judge Traci Soderstrom, he entered not guilty pleas. The pleas were received and the Judge set him for the felony disposition docket on Jan. 16, 2024, the jury trial call docket on Jan. 23 and a jury trials on Feb. 5.

Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court July 27 against Barnes for attempting to prevent witnesses from testifying against him. He appeared before Special Judge Emily Mueller and she set his bond at $10,000.

Judge Mueller set the matter for Aug. 17.

On that date, a pre-preliminary hearing was set for Sep. 21.

Barnes is accused of between July 15 and 16 of this year of attempting to prevent a duly subpoenaed witness from testifying in Lincoln County District Court by directing Sarah Wilson to tell Johnny Wilson and other witnesses to not come to court after Johnny Wilson and other witnesses had been subpoenaed to testify.
