Two injured in turnpike crash

Two people were injured recently in a traffic collision involving four vehicles on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County west of Chandler, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

State Trooper Rawls identified those injured as Erik B. Richison, 30, Tulsa and Emily A. Richison, 26, of Tulsa.

He said Erik Richison was transported by Wellston EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in good condition with leg and trunk internal injuries.

Rawls stated Emily Richison was initially taken by Wellston EMS to the Chandler Fire Department where she was flown by Survival Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

She was admitted in poor condition with head, arm, leg and trunk internal injuries.

The trooper said vehicles and drivers involved in the collision were a 2013 Dodge Ram driven by Ingrid L.A. Alvarado, 37, Hobbs, N.M. who refused treatment at the scene; a 2004 Nissan Frontier driven by Regan M. Davis, 40, of Norman, who also refused treatment at the scene; a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by Erik Richison; and a 2018 Chevy Silverado driven by Devin L. Hunt, 23, of Depew, not injured.

Rawls said the vehicles driven by Alvarado, Davis and Richison were all eastbound on Interstate 44 (Turner Turnpike) and had reduced their speed due to a collision in the roadway. The vehicle driven by Hunt was traveling too fast for road traffic conditions and collided into the rear of Richison’s vehicle, forcing it to collide with the one driven by Davis and forcing her vehicle to collide with the rear of the Dodge Ram.

The trooper said Erik Richison was pinned for around 20 minutes and extricated by Wellston Fire Department using the Hurst Tool.

The collision occurred near the 163 mile marker approximately 4.4 miles west of Chandler.

Rawls reported the condition of all drivers prior to the collision was apparently normal. He listed cause of the collision traveling too fast for road conditions.

Seat belts were equipped in all the vehicles and in use by all of the people.

Rawls, of Troop YB of the Turner Turnpike detachment was assisted by Troopers White and Payne, of the same Troop and detachment along with Chandler Fire Department, Wellston Fire Department, Wellston EMS, Chandler EMS, Wellston Police Department, Chandler Police Department, and Survival Flight.
