Updates from Meeker Town Hall

1. Lake Update:

A. All surveying is finally done.

B. Still waiting on lab reports for the soil samples.

C. We spent all morning at the lake making plans with a company to build a resort to offer temporary lodging, hunting, and vacationers get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The resort will host motel cabins, hunting, fishing, entertainment, and fine food dining overlooking the new lake.

This resort will also help promote a new idea of Red Dirt Water Motorsports.

Also, sandy beaches, fire and mud pits will join the diner on the water. Play areas for families and children will be added. As the resort gains recognition throughout the peak season there will be special promotions for off the season time.

A large dance floor area is ideal for informal or formal gatherings (e.g. wedding reception, club meetings, Christmas parties, and or all Holiday meetings).

Much more to come about all of this. This is GREAT news and gets me excited and I hope it excites all you too

2. Update on Glenncrest Park:

A. Update on Glenncrest Park: Playground equipment finally made it to Meeker Friday morning at 10:00 am.

The truck was uploaded, and playground sets are on the ground.

As I write this at approximately 3:00 pm Friday afternoon, I get a call that the 2nd truck is sitting on I-40 with a blown tire. The truck should be in Meeker Saturday morning.

Oh great, Labor Day Weekend! One of our guys, Joe Jones stepped up to bring the backhoe and forks to unload the semitruck Saturday morning.

The playground installation crew will be back Tuesday morning the 8th to assemble the playground sets.

B. Still asking for flowers or shrubs for flower beds at the park. We will come dig up. Call City Hall at 405-279-3320.

C. Part of the Basketball area received a coat of seal coating. We had to stop for rain coming.

Growth & Development 1. More meetings for planning and discussing the parade, car & truck show, food vendors, merchandise vendors, and all the games.

Special thanks again this week to Mrs. Walton, Mrs. Way, and Mrs. Williams for all the great prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners at the car and truck show. The team is giving away prizes every half hour.

2. Update on Chamber of Commerce.

A. Please attend the monthly meeting Thursday the 10th at 11:45 am at the 1st Baptist Church.

B. Plan to attend the Fall Festival Oct 31st at the Meeker H.S. bus barn. Events start about dark.
