McLoud City Council members learned during their most recent meeting a nearly $300,000 grant has been approved for a sewer line project.
Mareta Woodard, who works for Parkhill -Cardinal Engineering, advised the Council members she is the administrator for the $299,999 Community Development Block Grant.
“Congratulations,” she told the Council members, “on your receiving approval.”
She informed them the engineer, of whom she is not one, “is ready to go out for bids on the construction contract once I get the environmental study done.”
She explained the City of McLoud’s part is $63,900 that will cover certain portions of the project. “We have 120 days to get release of the funds and 270 days for the construction to be completed,” she noted.
Woodard said the contract runs from Sep. 3, 2021 until Sep. 3, 2023.
In relation to the grant, the Council adopted a resolution giving the Mayor and City Manager authority to sign any contractor’s pay application and/ or change orders prior to a Council meeting with final approval of payment to be made by the council for the project.
Council members also adopted a Fair Housing Resolution and approved an anti-displacement and relocation plan in connection with the sewer line project in the Heritage Park addition.
On another agenda item, the Council, following a public hearing in which no one spoke, approved a lot split and rezoning of property at 4560 S. Arena Road from A1 Agriculture to A2 Agriculture. An ordinance was adopted and emergency clause was approved as well.

They also approved a $35,000 budget amendment to cover those purchases.
