Voters in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties can begin in-person absentee voting today (Thursday, Oct. 29) for Tuesday’s Nov. 3 General Election by casting their ballot at the County Election boards in Chandler and Shawnee.

Lincoln County voters may cast their in-person ballots today and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Lincoln County courthouse at 811 Manvel Avenue in Chandler, Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh stated.

Pottawatomie County voters may cast in-person ballots during the same times and days at the Pottawatomie County Election Board, 14101 Acme Road in Shawnee, Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover said.

On Tuesday, voters must cast their ballots at their respective polling precincts between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., the two said.

Voters in both counties will join those across Oklahoma to decide State Questions 805 and 814.

State Question 805 deals with sentencing reform and State Question 814 is about giving the State Legislature 75 percent of the proceeds from state settlements with or judgments against tobacco companies.

Currently, the Legislature only receives 25 percent of those proceeds and 75 percent is directed to the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust Fund (TSET) to use for tobacco prevention programs, cancer research, and other such programs to maintain or improve the health of Oklahomans.

In Lincoln County, vot ers have no local races or state legislative contests to decide.

In Pottawatomie County, all voters can cast ballots in the race for County Court Clerk. Valerie Ueltzen, a Republican and the incumbent is seeking re-election against Libertarian Bud Jeffrey.
