The Annual Meeker Pumpkin Festival held on Sat. Oct 2nd was a large success. The festival committee started something new this year with a Scarecrow contest, inviting businesses and residents to participate in creating a scarecrow for display. Having close to 20 participants for this event made for great decoration through our small town. Louise Wilkerson won the judges’ vote, based on Creativity, Visibility, and Quality; Robyn Miller won the People’s Choice Award, based on FB likes, comments and shares.
The Pumpkin Royalty had 7 contestants, Elisa Heinicke- Queen, Jennifer McMunn –Princess and Best Stage Presence Winner, Katelyn Oliver-Junior Princess and Best Dressed Winner, Lynnlee Hendrix- Mini Princess, Penny Jar winner and Facebook Social Media Winner, Blakely Sedlacek-baby Princess and Royalty Parade Winner, Matthew Wilbourn- Prince, Holden Streater-Baby Prince. The Royalty Contestants were joined on stage by Journi Wiiliams- 2021 Meeker Football Homecoming Queen and Macy Buoy- 2021 North Rock Creek Football Homecoming Queen.
The parade winners were VMA- Best auto entry, Wilkerson’s Const.- Best Business Entry (winning the Floating Trophy), Avah’s Pumpkin for Sale (Stacey Wyatt and Avah Holland winning the Best Individual Award, and Mammoth Baptist Church Winning the Best Group Entry,
Both Young and Old enjoyed the “Junkin Punkin” activity, many cute and creative Pumpkins left the area.
The Community Garden and Pavilion was home to the petting zoo brought to you by Singing Grace Ranch, as well as the Pumpkin fairy Garden where seeds were planted and pumpkins were grown.
