The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties rose by 16, and the new positive cases increased by more than 300, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

Last week the number of new deaths was 9 over the previous week and there were more than 300 new cases.

A dozen of the deaths have occurred in Pottawatomie County and four new deaths have been recorded in Lincoln County, according to the OSDH.

The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.

The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from Oct. 6 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Oct. 12.

There now have been 170 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.

Lincoln County now has 101 reported deaths.

The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 228 and in Lincoln County they increased by 81, according to figures provided by the OSDH.

Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 309, slightly down from the most recent report by the OSDH. The previous report had that number increasing by 322.

Lincoln County’s latest number is 4,620. It was 4,539 at the last report.

The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 11,203. Last report it was 10,975.

The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 15,823.

Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 15,162 up by 368, the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 10,747have recovered and 4,415 have recovered in Lincoln County.

The OSDH reported as of Oct. 6 statewide, 619,056 people have tested positive, compared to 609,737 at the last report. There have been 9,213 Oklahoma provisional deaths, last week’s reporting showed 8,949. And active cases stand at 12,988. Last report they were 16,310.

The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
