Early voting for SQ 820

Early voting for next Tuesday’s Special Election on State Question 820 will be today, Thursday, March 2 and Friday, March 3, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County Election Board in Chandler and the Pottawatomie County Election Board in Shawnee.

State Question 820, if passed, would legalize recreational marijuana in Oklahoma for persons 21 and over.

Voters in Wellston also will decide an OG&E franchise election that will allow the utility company to sell electricity in the town for the next 25 years.

Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board. Lincoln County Election Board Secretary, Melissa Stambaugh, and Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretary Patricia Carter said early voting is open to all voters.

Voters must cast their ballots at the respective precincts on Tuesday, March 7.

Stambaugh pointed out a polling place change for Precinct 410015 effective immediately. Voters in that Precinct who formerly voted at Hillsdale Baptist Church, 333892 E. Highway 62 in McLoud, will now vote at KTO Gymnasium (Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma Gymnasium), 106684 S. Highway 102, 1¾ miles south of the intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 102 in McLoud.

Voters affected by the changes received new Voter ID cards in the mail with their new polling place information, she said.
