Alpha Iota Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International celebrated the 90th Birthday of Oklahoma State Organization by inviting essay winners, their families and former chapter members to the April meeting held at the Chandler High School Media Center last week. Kim Leatherwood, president, welcomed the visitors. Marilyn Young presented a history of the founding of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the Alpha Iota Chapter. Then each of the winning essays were read by their author.
Eighth grade winners were: first place – Weston Miller, second place – Lexi Martzall. Seventh grade winners were: first place – Rhett Haley, second place – Luke McGough.
All of the winners are students at Chandler Junior High. Their English teacher is Pam Anderson. Kim Leatherwood presented each of the winners with a certificate and a monetary award. Linda Newby introduced former chapter members present. Visitors and members enjoyed refreshments of birthday cake and fruit. Hostesses were Kim Leatherwood, Linda Newby and Laura Keefover.
