Food boxes will be given away 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Wellston Baseball Field at 900 Hickory. The giveaway is sponsored by Wellston and Luther United Methodist Churches and is part of the United States Department of Agriculture Farmers to Families Food Box Program.
This is not a needs-based program. There are no program requirements but is open to all. The program was developed to benefit farmers and prevent the waste of agriculture products. Anyone can pick up a free box by driving through the line. Volunteers will place a box of fresh, perishable food in your vehicle. Additional boxes can be requested to share with others who are not able to pick one up.
