The Chandler Board of Education this week hired several new teachers, one of whom will also coach, along with a paraprofessional and an Aide/Substitute.

School Supt. Melody Toma said the board hired Kent Franz as a secondary teacher and the new girls’ high school basketball coach.

She said Franz spent from 1991 through 2014 as head women’s basketball coach at East Central University. After retiring for a short time, he took coaching stints at Central High in Marlow and one year at Western Heights, but at Western Heights never got to play a game last year, she noted.

Three elementary teachers were hired including Holly McBride for kindergarten, and Jennifer Sayre and Lori Smithey, both third grade teachers, Toma said.

Jesseca Miller will be an aide and substitute at Park Road Elementary, and Tara Hamilton will be a paraprofessional at East Side Elementary, Toma stated.
