Chandler High School seniors Brayden Redford and Kodie Vega have been named March Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club.
Brayden Redford is the son of Shawney Redford. He holds a 3.8 grade point average while taking advanced classes in English and Chemistry for two years and Algebra III for one year.
His leadership capabilities were evident while serving as senior class president and captain of the CHS football team.
A skilled athlete, Brayden played football and ran track for four years. He was on the wrestling team for two years.
He also participated in Student Council and Stagecraft.
His community involvement includes volunteer work at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City and the Chandler Food Pantry. He took part in Sweep the Street to help clean up the Chandler Downtown area.
Following graduation from high school, Brayden plans to work toward a four-year degree in business at East Central University in Ada, Okla.
Kodie Vega, the daughter of Reinee Smith and stepdaughter of Eric Smith, maintains a 3.98 GPA. She took advanced classes in English and concurrent classes in American Government and American History through Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She also took concurrent classes in English Comp I and II and College Algebra through Rose State College, Midwest City, Okla. Kodie completed Chemistry, Pre-calculus and Physics classes at the Pre-Engineering Academy of Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla., earning a 4.0 GPA.
She is a member of both the National Society of High School Scholars and the National Technical Honor Society and frequently earned a spot on the Superintendent’s and President’s Honor Rolls.
Her extracurricular activities include archery and cross-country. She was named a National Academic Archer and helped Chandler win the Class 3A Cross-Country Academic Championship in 2018.
During high school, Kodie worked at McDonalds and LaDonna’s Restaurant. After graduation, she plans to attend the Honors College at Oklahoma State University with an anticipated graduation in Winter 2025 or Spring 2026.
