The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has arrested a McLoud couple in connection with the murder of a reported missing man who staying in their home.
The OSBI, in a release, said deputies from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason Dean Cornett, 47, and Elizabeth Dee Cornett, 45, in connection with the death of David Orr, 44.
Orr was last heard from by a family member on January 16, 2021. At that time, he was staying with the Cornetts at 21 Walker Lane in McLoud. The next day, surveillance video showed Elizabeth Cornett using Orr’s food stamp card at a Harrah grocery store.
Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth confirmed that both Jason Dean Cornett and Elizabeth Dee Cornett are currently in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office has been involved in the joint investigation along with the OSBI, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, Oklahoma Department of Corrections Intelligence Division and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
The OSBI indicated Jason Cornett is being held without bond for first degree murder and desecration of a human corpse.
Elizabeth Cornett is being held on $200,000 bond for accessory to first degree murder after the fact and desecration of a human corpse, the OSBI said.
Booth confirmed the two will be prosecuted in Pottawatomie County. As of Tuesday of this week, no formal charges had been filed against the pair, according to court records.
