McLoud water rate increase

The McLoud City Council, meeting as the Public Works Authority, has approved an increase in utility rates.

City Manager Buck Day explained the rate increase, “Is 50 cents per 1,000 gallons on water and on sewer. And then it will be 10 cents per 1,000 gallons on each of those after this year for five years,” he added.

Day noted, “This is so we’re assured we can make our loan payments and obtain our grants. We’re doing the 10 cents so we can do a little bit at a time.”

Meeting also as the PWA, the Trustees decided to eliminate selling bulk water outside of McLoud. “We’re going to keep it local,” Day said.

He reported the Trustees took no action on purchasing a shop barn 75 feet by 100 feet.

“It has to be put out for bid for a building at the sewer plant,” Day said.

Meeting as the City Council, lot splits and rezoning of real property at 4215 S. Arena Road in McLoud from A1 Agriculture to A2 Agriculture were approved.
