The Meeker Town Board, meeting as the Public Works Authority, has voted to hire Chad Rowan as a PWA employee.
The Authority’s action came during a special meeting last Thursday, Sep. 23.
Mayor Jeff Wilbourn explained that Rowan began work on Monday of this week as a new employee.
The Authority members’ vote to hire Rowan comes after three of them voted on Sep. 7 to uphold his termination by former Town Administrator Dickie Walton.
Walton had said his decision came following a recommendation by an OMAG attorney.
At that time, those voting to uphold the termination were Wilbourn and Trustees Aaron Head and Billy Walker. Vice Mayor Donna Weber was not in attendance and recently appointed Trustee Lanny Thompson had not yet been seated on the board.
Wilbourn said their decision to hire Rowan came following an executive session of the Authority. Their vote was 5-0, he said.
