Seven more COVID deaths

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties rose by seven and there have been more than 400 new positive cases for the second consecutive week, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

Four of the deaths have occurred in Pottawatomie County and three new deaths have been recorded in Lincoln County, according to the OSDH.

The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.

The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from Sep. 15 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Sep. 21.

There now have been 147 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.

Lincoln County now has 86 reported deaths.

The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 319 and in Lincoln County they increased by 117, according to figures provided by the OSDH.

Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 436 from the most recent report by the OSDH.

The previous report had that number increasing by 447.

Lincoln County’s latest number is 4,349. It was 4,232 at the last report.

The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 10,500. Last report it was 10,181.

The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 14,849.

Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 14,023, up by 510, the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 9,954 have recovered and 4,069 have recovered in Lincoln County.

The OSDH reported as of Sep. 15 statewide, 584,692 people have tested positive, compared to 568,874 at the last report. There have been 8,440 Oklahoma provisional deaths, last week’s reporting showed 8,208.
