Warrant issued in pursuit

A $30,000 bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Stroud man who is charged with two felonies following a high speed pursuit.

Jonathan Taylor Cullum, 24, was formally charged Sep. 14 in Lincoln County District Court with endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police and child neglect.

In an earlier case, a $50,000 bench warrant for Cullum’s arrest was issued in June of this year when he failed to show up for a court appearance that month after pleading guilty to another charge in March and placed in a community sentencing program.

Cullum in Count 1 is accused of driving a Ford Edge motor vehicle on Old Stroud Road, Highway 66, and other public roadways in Lincoln County and increasing the speed of the vehicle in an attempt to elude Stroud Police Officer Wade Martin who had given him visual and audible signals, red light and siren, to stop his vehicle.

The charge states Cullum drove at unsafe speeds and repeatedly ran stop signs, endangering others, including an infant who was in a car seat in his vehicle, and children who were playing near the roadway and occupants of several other vehicles.

The child neglect charge alleges Cullum abandoned his infant son, by leaving the child strapped in a car seat in his vehicle with the windows rolled up and the air conditioning turned off, abandoning the child and the vehicle on property located near the intersection of County Roads 900 and 35900 in Lincoln County.
