Betty Nickerson Hall was born July 17, 1924 in Pasadena, Calif., and died March 25, 2021 while residing in Meeker, Okla. On May 29, 1941 she married Warren Hall, originally of Crawford, Neb. During WWII they moved between New York City, Boston, Vallejo, Calif., and Quonset Point, R.I. Later, as a university wife, she was involved with students of all nationalities at UCLA, UC Davis, UC Riverside and Colorado State University, with two stints in Washington, DC as her husband served as the President’s Science Advisor for Water, and as head of the Office of Water Resources Research. She loved to travel and often accompanied him as he taught and consulted around the world. After his death Betty continued to travel, driving solo into her late 80’s to East and West Coasts yearly to visit and keep in touch with her many relatives and friends. She and family members from across the country also gathered together in vacation homes in different places, occasions that marked highlights in their lives.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, A. Louis Nickerson and Frances Mallory Nickerson, her brother Robert Nickerson, and by her husband Prof. Warren A. Hall. Survivors include daughter Bev Hall of Meeker, son Frank Hall and his wife Yvonne of Henniker, N.H., and daughter Mel Hall of Walkersville, Md. She is also survived by her niece Diane Howard and nephew Gregory and wife Grace Nickerson and their families and 15+ Hall Family nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Melanie McCoy, Michael McCoy, Scott McCoy, Sean McCoy and wife Claudia, Steven McCoy and wife Nancy, Lianne Tauxe, Tim Hall and wife Lara, Ann Hall and husband Stewart Croft, and Christopher Hall. Greatgrandchildren include Corey Hayes, Stephen Ellsworth and wife Sylvia, Jeffrey Ellsworth, Thomas Ellsworth, Kayla and husband Coty Bailey, Alexandra McCoy, Quinten McCoy, Camden McCoy, Logan McCoy, Penelope Croft, and Owen Croft. She is also survived by seven great-great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Austin, and Ethan Ellsworth, and Nevaeh, Flynn, Eden, and Ava Bailey.
An avid reader, Betty had a lifelong interest in libraries and cashiered at the OKC Metropolitan Friends of the Library’s Annual Book Sale for nearly 30 years. She was active in the Meeker Friends of the Library from its earliest days, frequently working the checkout desk at the Meeker Library and assisting at fundraisers.
