Jonathan Howard Mitchell

Jonathan Howard Mitchell was born September 2, 1956, in Marysville, Calif. He died Thursday, July 29, 2021, in Shawnee, Okla., at the age of 64 years.

Mitchell, aka “Shoog” or “Jonnie,” graduated from high school in 1974 and served in the United States Army. He had a career in law enforcement before becoming a traveling evangelist and pastoring in Stroud. He was the Director for the COEDD Area Agency on Aging in Shawnee.

Preceding him in death were his parents William and Dona (Cowles) Mitchell and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jacque Mitchell of the home; his children and their spouses, Curtis Mitchell of Shawnee, William “Billy” and Alicia Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas, and Aundrea “Sissy” and Jason Ellis of Stringtown, Okla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Rob Franke of Mesa, Ariz., and Pam and John Arlich of Willits, Calif.; and other family and friends.

The family will celebrate his life in a private service with a public service to follow at a date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
