Loren Dale McCorkle Jr.

A graveside funeral will be held for Loren Dale McCorkle Jr. at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Wellston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.

McCorkle was born February 19, 1943, in Fallis, Okla., and died Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Edmond, Okla., at the age of 78 years.

The son of Loren Dale “Jack” Sr. and Lola (Young) McCorkle, he married Mary Minick in 2008 in Stillwater, Okla.

A 1961 graduate of Wellston High School, he was a full-time farmer and drove a truck for the Teamsters Union.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Timmy McCorkle and Tony McCorkle; his stepson Steve Black; three sisters, Dorothy McCorkle, Beaulah McCorkle and Helen Baker; and his brother Lyle McCorkle.

Survivors include his wife Mary McCorkle and stepdaughter Denise Blakeney, both of the home; stepdaughter Kathryn and her husband Art Atkinson of Edmond; eight grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Hazel and Kenneth Stone of Enid, Okla., and Norma Williams of Edmond; and other family and friends.
